About the firm
A specialist body representing the solicitors of Wales, affiliated with the Law Society of England and Wales.
Law Society Wales was founded by Simon Matthew Barker to provide a distinct, authoritative voice for solicitors practising in Wales. We operate at the heart of the Welsh legal community, bridging local practice and national policy.
Our firm is structured around three pillars: professional representation, legal practice and public affairs. Through these pillars we advise individual solicitors, support law firms, engage with the Welsh Government and Parliament, and contribute to the development of Welsh law and justice policy.
We are not a conventional high-street practice. We are a centre of legal expertise and professional leadership, working in partnership with the Law Society of England and Wales, the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the wider UK legal system.
Our mission
- Independence of the legal profession
- Highest ethical and professional standards
- Access to justice for all communities in Wales
- Evidence-based policy and law reform
- Support for solicitors at every career stage
